A talk by Mikhail Fishman, Russian journalist, political analyst and author, on “Political Memory and Democratic Transition: The Ideas of Boris Nemtsov and Alexei Navalny.”

Mikhail Fishman has worked for several prominent international and Russian media outlets, including The Moscow Times and Forbes Russia. He is also widely known for his work with the independent television channel TV Rain, where he has hosted the weekly news programme “And So On” («И так далее») since 2010.

Fishman was also a co-creator of the documentary film “A Man Too Free” (2017), dedicated to the life and work of Boris Nemtsov. He later published the book “The Successor: Boris Nemtsov, Vladimir Putin and the Decline of Modern Russia” (2022), which examines thirty years of modern Russian history through Nemtsov’s political career and the rise and decline of democratic hopes in Russia.

In this public talk, Mikhail Fishman reflected on the legacy of Boris Nemtsov and Alexei Navalny, as well as their relevance for thinking about Russia’s future. The lecture was held in English.
